Huskers Pick Captains for Western Michigan Game

The Nebraska football team practiced in half-pads for two hours inside Memorial Stadium Wednesday as they prepare for their first game of the season on Saturday night against Western Michigan.  After today's practice, NU head coach Bo Pelini announced which players were named captains for the season opener.

Gardiner not ready to tip his hand

Port Arthur (Texas) Memorial cornerback Desmond Gardiner is doing everything he can to avoid the inevitable distractions that come with the process. Undersized Smith making most of opportunity

Nebraska Faces Tough Weekend Opponents

After starting the season with a loss for the first time since 2004, the Huskers will look to rebound against two tough opponents this weekend. Nebraska opens its home schedule with a 5:30 p.m. showdown with UC Riverside at the Nebraska Soccer Field on Friday, before traveling to Gainesville to face Florida at Noon on Sunday.

Tuesday notebook: West reclaims starting job

Sophomore Anthony West reclaimed the starting job at right cornerback over fellow sophomore Prince Amukamara. West entered fall camp listed as the starter, but poor play led the the NU coaching staff replacing him with Amukamara. But with just three practices before game day, West earned his spot back

Three-star CB has two on top

One of the most talented teams in the Dallas Metroplex is Grand Prairie (Texas) South Grand Prairie High School. A big part of that talent is cornerback Thomas Ferguson. The three-star prospect headed into the summer with three offers already and more have come since then, boosting his list to six as he heads into his senior year

Husker Offense Gears up For Broncos

The Nebraska football team continued game-week preparations for its season opener against Western Michigan with a 2 ½ hour practice on the grass fields outside Memorial Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. Earlier in the day at Coach Bo Pelini's weekly press conference, the first depth chart was revealed, including junior Mike Smith being listed at the No. 1 spot at left tackle.
